Working from home IT query
Hello cuntos.

I currently use my WiFi at home but have a thingy that allows me to use a laptop through my 4g.

I can easily watch a film and do other stuff with no break in connection and am wondering if I can use it for work?

Obviously I have several things going on on my work laptop and any calls we take or make are routed through the laptop too.

Is this possible or is there not enough 4g to ensure that I can sufficient internet?

Yes I’m clueless at computers and yes I’ve wiped my knob on my boss

You sound all cool and dandy there then Bruuno.

VPNs
You can pay for one, but most of them aren;t really as honest as they say and do collate and pass on your data usage.

Opera Browser comes with an inbuilt VPN that isn't perfectly secure [none of them are] that will slightly help with making it less transparent where your dirty electronic prints have been, but nothing is private and secure on the Interwebs, so a free VPN can suffice to circumvent international limitations unless you're a terrorist or an arms dealer on the black market, then you need more specialist kit.

GO - I have unlimited data on my phone and I’ve used it with my laptop for watching tv all day and it’s not caused any problems

Re: Working from home IT query
Brunno with all these things they'll have some data cap limiting how much data you can grab, but as long as you're not silly and exclusively streaming 4k videos you ought to be fine.

It really is how long is a piece of string, you can usually ask to top up more data allowance if your private web use exceeds what your company felt you were entitled to.

If your IT department are supporting working from home/remotely, they should already have VPN in place, or, at least a ring fenced Cloud service for you to use.

Ah ok MIke that’s interesting. I’m guessing our IT dept will have put measures in place to prevent using it over a mobile network

Ag cough!

GO yea that’s the thing I’ve got - as I say it allows me to watch films in HD so should be ok with work stuff?

I can plug it into the laptop via a usb cable

You might need a VPN if you plan to sent commercial/sensitive data over a mobile network - they're as open as a whore's legs.

Assuming it's USB dongle, then your work laptop might have it's USB ports locked, or you may not be able to install anything

Also, are you sure said fishing lake has 4G coverage

Re: Working from home IT query
4G can be good if you have decent reception in your area.

Can quickly ramp up a quick bill though

Get one of them monthly paid EE portable 4GEE WiFi things, I know a number of people who've been using this for a few years if they have to travel about.

Hassle free for technophobic bigots!

You're better off staying with your wifi, or even better, use your ethernet
